About

The Westbrook Journal is an independent publication covering the town of Westbrook and the smaller settlements strung along the Millrace River, from the old mill district downtown to the orchard country on Ridgeline Road. We report on the decisions made at Town Hall, the businesses that keep Main Street lit, and the everyday life of a valley that has spent the last decade reinventing itself.

Our focus is close to home. We believe a place is best understood by the people who live in it, so we spend our time at council meetings, school board sessions, farmers markets, and the quiet corners where change usually starts. When a story matters beyond the valley, we explain why it matters here.

The Journal publishes news reporting alongside clearly labeled opinion and analysis. We do not blur the line between the two, and we correct our mistakes in the open.
